Saxophonist Doug O’Connor is celebrated for performances that challenge audiences to explore, connect, and grow through music. His artistry spans classical, contemporary, jazz, and electronic styles, and he is widely recognized for his adventurous programming and commanding versatility. In 2023, Dr. O’Connor joined the faculty of the Peabody Conservatory as Assistant Professor of Saxophone and serves on the staff of the Washington Arts Ensemble, a D.C.-based nonprofit devoted to chamber music outreach. A former member of the Astral Artists roster, he earned his MM and DMA degrees from the Eastman School of Music, later returning as Adjunct Assistant Professor. He has also served as Associate Lecturer of Saxophone at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire and as a member of both the U.S. Naval Academy Band and the U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own.” Dr. O’Connor is co-founder of the Global Premiere Consortium Commissioning Project and performs as the alto saxophonist with Project Fusion.
